# Step-by-step guides

> Turn the same recording into editable instructions with screenshots and a PDF.

A guide is for someone doing the task, not only watching it. It can include a summary, who it is for, what they need, and numbered steps with screenshots.

## Create one

<Steps>
  <Step title="Review the script first">
    The guide is written from that language’s script. A language without a script cannot be included.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose where to start">
    In Export, tick Step-by-step guides for the selected languages. On the Guide tab, create a guide for the language on screen. You can make a guide without exporting a video.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the draft">
    Check the step order, the wording, and the screenshots. Replace a screenshot when the suggested frame is not the one you want.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Download a PDF">
    Use Download PDF on the Guide tab when you need a portable copy. Review sensitive screenshots before you include them.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Making a guide again replaces the current guide for the selected languages, including edits from people you invited. Save anything you need to keep, and read the confirmation before you continue.
</Warning>

<Tip>
  You can edit the title, summary, step text, and step order after the guide exists. Those edits stay until you make the guide again.
