# Record a task

> Capture a screen, window, or browser tab, or start from a recording you already have.

Record one workflow from start to finish. A tour of every menu is harder to follow than a single useful outcome.

    Choose the screen, window, or browser tab in the browser prompt.

  <Step title="Do the task once">
    Show the starting point, the action, and the result. You can narrate with your microphone while you record, or leave the explanation for the script later.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Or upload a recording">
    Start a project from a screen recording you already have. Polysh uses that file as the source.

  Edits change the generated video and guide. They do not change the original recording, so you can return to the source.
